Evaluation Guidelines

Evaluation
In what ways, does your media product use, develop, or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
. Talk about how our opening scene, starts off with the names of the cast members, and how we use small annotations to show the audience what the film is going to be about, before we drop the name of the film, in a punch line kind of way. Fonts and styles of writing.  Show a link of an example of this. Superhero movie being a key example. Talk about the genre of our piece, (Superhero Parody, Comic comedy). Costume choices and props. Talk about how the first shot sets the scene, when Ryan lies in bed, and wakes up like an everyday guy. How characters are introduced, how does dean come into things? .How do we know Ryan in the main character?
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Image of Ryan, compared with superman, to show the counter stereotype. And also comparing dean, with your stereotypical thug.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product? And why?
Indie, 20th century fox … examples of films produced by this company, with similarities.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
Teenagers, comic book fans, geek, channels that might show this kind of film, shows that would also interest fans of a film such as thins. Age ratings and gender? Why our piece would be more suited for males than females.
How did you attract/address your audience?
Advertisement, such as radio, TV, posters, internet, and competitions to promote. Up to date music.  How we would promote the film and how we will be able to interest our target audience of teenagers.
What have we learnt about the technology?
Equipment, apparatus, such as cameras, dollies, tri-pods. Software, such as Final cut, garage band. Website that we have used. Blogger, YouTube, Google.
Looking back at our preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression towards the final product?
Angles, Shots, Distances, lighting, things we did well, things we could improve on, how attendance effected us. How we have learnt how to use the Mac computers, using the camera’s in normal definition.

Evaluation Plan, What we are going to talk about ...

Plan
.Attendance problems – People not showing up to lessons, late marks ECT …
.Editing problems - lack of internet – Learning the ways of final cut, and being without the internet for several lessons.
.Camera and tripod problems – Filming with a broken tripod, and filming without good sound quality, and filming in HD accidently
.Continuity editing – Members of the group were wanting to film in different weather conditions, and different times of the day.
.Costume problems – Finding the appropriate costume to use for the opening.
.Music – Finding music that suits the genre, and making sure it was copy write free.
.Angles/Match on Actions – Deciding what angles to use, and when to use match on action shots, and figuring out how to edit the two scenes together.
.Target audience – 13 – 19 year olds, Teenage age group.
.Media Institution – What company would most likely release a film such as ours.
.Social Groups – Stereotypes, counter stereotypes, imbalance of social groups.
.What we have learnt since our preliminary task – Different angles and rules, lighting, editing with music and text, effects, such as wire frame.
.Final Cut, Macs, Garage band – Getting to learn how to use the Mac computers and coming to terms with the new technology.
. Up to date music (kind of), over exaggerated costume and acting – Music that can relate to our target audience, basic stereotypical superhero music.
.Use of counter types against superheros – Portraying Keith as weak and pathetic instead of the usual superhero style. E.g... Strong and powerful.
. Mise en scene – Good use of hidden extras that the audience may or may not see.
.Shot framing and head room – Not wasting shot space, such as too much head room, which can ruin certain shots.
.The Blogs – Keeping our blogs up to date, making weekly analysis videos.

Blue Screen Practice

This Week ........

This week in Media, we are going to be shooting the last few frames of our movie opening. We will be be using our double lesson on Wednesday morning to film at Ryan house. Its importnat that its in the morning, so it doesnt confuse the viewer, as our first shots were also in the morning.

We will then use the rest of our weekly media lessons to edit and put the footage together. We need to add titles, sound effects and music. We also need to decide wether or not we need any re-shoots.

Mac Suite and Editing

Today we worked in the Mac suites to edit our preliminary task. We got there and we're given out mac account details. We were then guided on how to upload our filming products and given a website link for tutorials to use the program Final Cut Pro. As we started this we had difficulties opening our shots as we filmed in HD which we were told not too, so we had to change the settings of each clip and save them into a new folder. We then finally uploaded all the clips needed and put them together in order. We did realise a mistake had been made in filming, we missed a match on action shot, so we had to cut and and close gaps to make it work. After that we had no more issues and finished our days editing successfully.
